My Sapphire Story
I grew up in downtown Detroit. During the mid-nineties, the city of Detroit was on a major decline; The bulk of the city’s middle class fled the city and moved to Southfield. Right before I entered high school, my dad got a promotion and his office was moved to Southfield. We moved to North Park Square, which at that time was owned by the same folks who owned North Park Towers (The Sapphire). We often visited mutual friends who lived at North Park towers, which was well known as being one of the most desired addresses in the whole city.
My family and I spent many Saturday afternoons at one particular close family friend’s home in North Park Towers (The Sapphire). I was amazed by the height of the souring towers and the stunning balcony where we had lunch. The entry way in her apartment was so huge, she could fit a huge wooden bench where we took our shoes off before entering the massive living room. I remember being amazed walking though first floor lobby with its massive windows looking out at the scenic green and floral landscape.
Fast forward to the present… When I moved into my very own apartment at the Sapphire, I knew I chose the best place to live! I knew it had everything I could ask for, but without the outrageous costs of living downtown where I could find anything even to compare to. My apartment is the smallest one bedroom available, but it’s over 1000 square feet!!
My balcony is my refuge. I love spending my early mornings having my first cup of coffee and the many evenings I spent enjoying a cold beverage and watching the sunset. Even in the winter months when it is too cold to venture outside for long, the wall to wall windows offer stunning views of the Detroit city skyline and surrounding metro areas. Year round the huge windows allow for abundance of natural lighting.
I really love the underground garage. You can’t beat the easy access to the inside of the building and as it is 100% enclosed, avoiding the weather patterns outside. For even more convenience, there is a hair salon and barber in the building. Our 24 hour fitness and wellness center is top notch. Its location on the top floor of the west tower affords one breathtaking views as you work up a sweat! There are more then enough machines, so there is never a wait and on top of it all – spotless!
The amenities here just keep coming! There is a 24 hour business center you can use at your convenience. We all know that going to the office supply store is time consuming and very expensive. Having this business center in the building is a huge plus for me. Additionally, there are many “conversation” areas to meet others and catch up, or just relax waiting for your next dinner delivery located throughout the common areas.
Location Location Location !!. I love the convenience and the time it saves me being close to all area expressways. I visit family often and its nice to be in close proximity to all freeways which gives me more time with family. I spend the other half of my time in downtown Detroit. I can get to my choice casino within 15 minutes from the Sapphire. Even if I’m not driving, I can Uber inexpensively to all of my destinations.
Last, but certainly not least, the residents at The Sapphire have been a major win for me. I have met a lot of cool people who share common interests and I feel grateful to have good neighbors, many who have lived here for decades!! I highly recommend living at THE SAPPHIRE, for me there is no other place I would call home.
