Tips for a tidy home;
We here at Oak Forest Apartments and Townhoes in Monroe, MI are dedicated to sharing tips for better living in your apartment home!
If you are you feeling a little cramped in your home? Is the clutter getting to you? Why not try the KonMari Method of cleaning up!!
If you haven’t yet we suggest watching Netflix’s hit show “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo”. This show features the KonMari method of tidying up. Marie Kondo is a tidying expert, best selling author, and founder of KnoMari Media Inc.
In the show she goes to the homes of people that need a little help tidying things up and teaches them the KonMari method of tidying. This method help make the tidying process a little easier to accomplish. Most tidying methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever. The KonMari Method encourages tidying by category – not by location – beginning with clothes, then moving on to books, papers, komono (miscellaneous items), and finally, sentimental items. Keep only those things that speak to the heart, and discard items that no longer spark joy. Thank them for their service – then let them go.
My favorite part of this method is finding the feeling of “sparking joy”. This feeling is described as the feeling you get when you see your favorite thing. The KnonMari method has 6 simple rules of tidying. They are as follows:
- Commit yourself to tidying up.
- Imagine your ideal lifestyle.
- Finish discarding first.
- Tidy by category, not by location.
- Follow the right order.
- Ask yourself if it sparks joy.
By following these rules and the steps given you should have no problem getting your home back in tip top shape! If you have any more ideas, or successes please feel free to share.
